Education Background
Mr. Li began his musical journey studying violin and cello at a young age. After graduating with a bachelor’s degree from the Music College of Beijing Capital Normal University, he earned a diploma in Wind Ensemble Conducting from New England Conservatory of Music under Frank L. Battisti. He also went on to complete a master’s degree in conducting under Gregg Hanson from the School of Music at University of Arizona.

Mr. Li has had the great privilege of working with numerous ensembles from Asia, Europe, Australia, and the Americas, including the Kazakhstan State Wind Orchestra, Korea Jeju Wind Orchestra, Singapore Wind Orchestra, Hong Kong Youth Symphonic Band, Tao Yuan City Wind Orchestra of Taiwan, Symphonic Wind Orchestra of Spain, Wind Ensemble of Adelaide University Australia, Wind Ensemble of the State University of New York (Fredonia) School of Music, Colorado State University Music Festival Band, Wind Orchestra of the Eastman School of Music, and the Wind Symphony of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music.

Additionally, Mr. Li has served on the selection committees for Korea’s Jeju International Wind Ensemble Festival, Hong Kong’s Governmental Music Office Band Competition, the Singapore National Arts Council Competition, and Spain’s Youth Band Festival.

Professor Wang Lai Cheung

Professor Wang Lai Cheung
A violinist and teacher, has been teachingmusic for over five decades with undivided attention to his students' devel- opment. Under his influence, his students went above and beyond their academic achievements. Besides attending prestigious universities such as Harvard University and Stan- ford University, they had many other achievements to impact the world.
Mr. Cheung started playing violin at the age of six and has never taken a break since. He held the position of violin first chair at orchestras in Shanghai and Hong Kong. He later im- migrated to the US where he now teaches students to play violin as well as other instruments and occasionally organizes orchestras from selective students. As a Christian musician. he values musical relationships with God Music has taught him to appreciate life, even helped him get a great wife. As the current director of the Strings of Spring ensemble, Mr. Cheung be lieves that one must love the beauty of music before playing it. Therefore, he blends a mixture of classic and popular, western and oriental music into his teaching. Through music. Mr. Cheung acts as an excellent role model in helping these individuals develop not only virtuosic characteristics but also commendable traits, such as caring about others, managing their emotions. and time management.
Music, as the deepest root in Mr. Cheung, is tremendously impacting him throughout his life. Playing music transports him to a moment in time. He ar- ticulates the ups and downs of life to create a wondrous place full of imagi nation. While his music travels deep into the heart, it is no longer just a beautiful piece of technical work, but one with feelings and emotions to touch each individual. That is what he hopes to teach his students, the love of music and life. Even in his 70s, nothing can separate Mr. Cheung from music and his students. His love and devotion towards his students are im- measurable. He is even willing to travel six hours to teach music and share love. At each chapter of his life, many students rise to the blessing of music.
Professor Hong Xu
Dean, and Flute Teacher of Tucson Phoenix-Orchestra Academy
Professor Hong Xu is a distinguished China National Class Instrumentalist (Flute). She is currently the Head of the Beijing Wind Orchestra and is responsible for the Management and Marketing for the Beijing Wind Orchestra. Meanwhile, she is leading the effort to partner with the National Centre for the Performing Arts Opera.
Ms. Xu studied flute with Zhu Tongde, a well-known flute professor at China Central Conservatory of Music since childhood, and graduated from Xi'an Conservatory of Music with honors in 2006.
Ms. Xu co-founded the Beijing Band Director's Association and co-hosted the Beijing Band Festival in 2006. She also co-founded the Beijing Wind Orchestra with Maestro Fangfang Li in 2009 and has served in an important administrative position in the orchestra since then. She led the troupe to participate in the World Wind Band Conference, Jeju International Wind Music Festival and a domestic tour in China in 2010. She was the executive officer of the 19th Asia Pacific Wind Music Conference in 2016.
Ms. Xu has led delegations to visit North America, Europe, Asia, Africa, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, and other countries and regions for many times. She has extensive contacts with musicians and music groups from different countries.
Assistant Professor Hangyu Bai
Piano Teacher of Tucson Phoenix-Orchestra Academy
Hangyu Bai, a Doctor of Piano Performance, graduated from the University of Arizona, a public Ivy League institution ranked in the top 100 by US News, majoring in Piano Performance with a minor in Interdisciplinary Studies. She holds a Master's degree in Piano Performance and an Advanced Certificate in Contemporary Music Performance from the State University of New York at Buffalo, along with an Artist Diploma in Piano Performance from Purchase College. As an experienced music educator, Hangyu has served as a lecturer in the Music Department at the State University of New York at Buffalo and has contributed her piano teaching skills at the Dengfeng Music Center.
Throughout her performing career, Hangyu has received numerous international accolades, including a Second Place in the American Protégé International Piano and Strings Competition, an opportunity to perform at Carnegie Hall, and awards at the Hong Kong Schimmel Cup. Additionally, her role as a cultural exchange ambassador, awarded during her “Travesía Musical” tour in Mexico, underscores her substantial influence in the international music arena.
